Does anyone know if I can use my prolux Alpha3 peak charger (0.1amp to 5amp rate) with 7.2v and 8.4v settings to charge my 12v starterbox battery? Thanks for any input.

Re: 7.2v/8.4v charger 12v battery

You cannot.

SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries require a constant voltage current limited charger, but these chargers are pretty cheap, even cantire carries them.

You are looking for a 12v lead acid or SLA charger, current rated 1/10 the capacity (usually called c/10) so 350mA for a 3.5Ah battery.

SLA batteries should fully charge to 14.0V and never get hot.

Well Thanks for the help, I went out yesterday and picked up a new batt and went to can tire and broke down and bought a nice shiny new batt charger and it worked perfect. Starter box is powered up and ready to go. But man this is almost the most expensive "addiction" Ive ever had, lol. But its the best one .
