Re: So, lets plan another Princeton weekend!!!
Hi Guys
I'll be there Sat. with the Elan and smoke. Got the room booked for Friday night - looks like it will be a cold start to the morning.....but.... the airframes and turbines are going to love that dense air !!!! Cheers D.W.

That's great that you're going to make it Dean... Yeah, I guess it will be a bit of a contrast from flying/hanging out in 30 degree weather. It'll give us a better chance to "love the smell of Kero in the morning".... not to worry Kelly - we don't actually breath it

Actually,,, I do.... I just don't admit it to Kelly. On the breakfast cereal??? That's a good way to show one's jetworthiness, but probably not a good thing to do on a consistent basis

Re: So, lets plan another Princeton weekend!!!
Well I am here in Princeton, just checked in. It is a bit chilly -but I am wearing short sleeved shirt, shorts and sandles, so what do you expect.
Great weather for flying, well will dig things out a bit so I can charge here in the morning. So will see , those that are coming, real soon now. Bart |

All loaded up and ready to go, Kingcat, Bandit, and Raptor, and yes, AMAR'S BOBCAT!!!!!! all set up on a shiny new 2.4 receiver on my 12X. Amar will be up there tonight, I'll be there probably around 10am tomorrow, figured there wasn't much point getting there to early if it's going to be cold!

Re: So, lets plan another Princeton weekend!!!
Hey you BC types. We didn't hear anything about the weekend flying. I guess they probably just spent the time playing cards in the motel room and eating at the Pub and having an adult beverage or two.

Re: So, lets plan another Princeton weekend!!!
hahaha, Hi Al,
Just got back last night and spent the evening with Buffy, haven't been on the computer until now. The weekend was great! Myself, Steve and Julie, Bart, and eventually Amar were all out there, my buddy Dave was there for a short while on Saturday as well. OH YEAH!!!! DEAN WAS THERE TOO!!!!! After everything thinking something terrible must have happened to him all year long, Dean was out!!! We had to help him put his jet together as it had been so long, and the spider webs all over it were awful just kidding Dean haha, but it was damn good to see you out flying finally this year!!!! I left Abby on Saturday morning, watching the temp gauge in the truck on the way there didn't make me feel great as I passed through Manning park at -10C. When I got to the airport it was still -6C at just before 10am. Everyone unloaded though and by about 10:20 I had put flight number one on the Kingcat. After about 5 minutes of flying I had to land as I couldn't feel my fingers anymore! Dean and Steve flew their Boomers together and by about 10:40 there had been 3 flights. I flew the Kingcat 3 times on Saturday, flew my Raptor once (would have flown it more but I broke a flex plate. It was a beautiful landing, but the old CAI flex plates were a nylon plastic, 10 years age combined with hitting the brakes pulled the gear out of the plate when I put the brakes on That's ok though, because the big news of the weekend is after 9 years and 4 different people working on it, Amar and I finally got his Bobcat test flown!! It is a Generation 1 Bobcat with an early P70 on it. 9 years of building, and having a couple people do installs on it. This spring I told Amar I would take it and get it ready to fly for him. He had a terrible time of trying to get to Princeton this summer but this weekend worked for him! So, yes, it has test flown! It flew beautifully, 4 clicks of down trim, and it was hands off. I did the maiden, had a perfect landing but the brakes were leaking and no brakes on landing, no problem though, just waited for it to slow down. We then flew it a 2nd time, I got it up and Amar flew it around. I had changed a couple settings for the spoilers and elevator so I took it back for landing and another perfect landing without brakes LOL!.... Sunday was even colder, it was just after 12 before any flights happened. We had made a couple more changes in the mixes on the Bobcat so I took it up for a quick flight and all was good, so Amar was ready to fly it on his own. Unfortunately, the Bobcat decided it wasn't ready as the left main retract started giving us problems. With those big speed brakes on the gear we opted to call it a day with that airplane. I will now pull it all apart and redo the air systems, and most of the insides. So I flew my Kingcat and let Amar have the sticks for a while on that one. That was all I flew on Sunday, but Steve-o spent a bunch of time impregnating the air with the wonderful smell of Kero. I left around 3pm on Sunday, Steve-o and Julie stayed there to put on one more flight for a spectator that flew in hoping to see the jets. It never did get very warm on Sunday, I don't think it passed 5C, but it was a great time none-the-less. It was a great weekend, Amar's Bobcat finally flew which had him smiling from ear to ear, I drank far more than I should have on Saturday night, damn Steve.... but I learned that even more evil than Steve is Amar!!!! LOL They kept forcing me to drink, you all know me, innocent, unknown to the demons of alcohol LMAO! It was a great weekend to wrap up the season, clear blue skies, no wind 95% of the time and when it did come up it was next to nothing, it was just cold! Now it's time to do maintenance to the jets over the winter and get them all ready for spring again! We'll talked about doing a few more Jet BBQ's over the winter, so we'll be planning those next! |

- It was great to get Dean out again. Although there were some cobwebs in his plane, there weren't any on his thumbs... still as smooth as ever. - Congrats to Amar!!! After all this time,,, he finally got to fly his brand new 9 year old Bobcat. (Great job on getting it ready and doing the maiden Jeremy) BTW Jeremy, you left too soon. Right after you left, it warmed up quite nicely. With that and absolutely zero wind, it made for great flying. I actually had to take my jacket off when I was loading up the truck after. Grant, the fellow who flew in from Summerland, was REALLY impressed with jets. Sounds like he'll be flying back for the May and September rallies. Although we're getting company for 'Turkey Day', I'll see if I can edit some pics for size, and post them up. Stevo
