Engine and modification help please

I have an older Enya four stroke 40 (no cover on the rocker mechanism) and it has an aftermarket magneto on the front. The magneto is a Mini Mag and appears to have an advance / retard mechanism, an ignition lead with an alligator clip and the cutest little spark plug!

Since I don't have any instructions with the unit can anyone tell me a bit about this unit? Fuel to use, a source of spare plugs, how to hook up the timing adjustment, prop to use and good candidates for a putt putt airframe would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: Engine and modification help please

Hi John;

I might be able to help you out a bit. I have ignition on 4 of my saitos and they run great. My ignitions are all digital and fire from a battery pack so I can't help you with the ignition. CH ignition (online) is the only place I have been able to find the small plugs with the 1/4 32 thread that fits the glow head. I think they are about $15 a piece and last a long time as long as the porcealin doesn't get damaged. I always run the green 15% cool power in my saitos. It's my understanding that you can probably drop as low as 5% when you are using an ignition system. My experience with ignition has been excellent, better idle and smoth transition and power curve.
