Winter Storage

I was going to ask about storeing planes, fuel, electronics and Nicad/Nimh batteries in an insulated, unheated garage, but stumbled across this thread from last year that I had forgot about that answered all my questions again. Must have Oldtimers setting in, geez, my wife may be right...I can't remember anything!!

I have run out of room for in-house storage, so the garage is it now. I did leave all my wings out in the garage last winter and they were wrinkle free in the spring, not like the fuses that were stored in my basement. Lots of wrinkles on those.
Any other tips and tricks??

You can fly Hitec or use the other "low tech" stuff!!

Re: Winter Storage

I try and keep them in the air with the motors running as much as possible. The ones I can't fly in the winter I oil the motors up till they are sloppy and store them in my heated garage. I keep it at 7c and it stays relativly dry in there. I would be really leary about storing them in high humididty like when you are constantly pulling in with a car full of snow and letting it melt.

Cheers. George
I keep having the same mechanical problem. I've got a loose nut on the transmitter!

Re: Winter Storage

I would keep the batteries somewhere warm if you can...everything else should be ok in the garage.

Re: Winter Storage

I am going to take over the next bigger sized room in my house and store them all on their own I have a 10x10 bedroom that I'm in now and I am moving to the 12x16 room. To keep the gas smell down I have coffee grounds in a couple small cloth bags to absorb the smell.
