Goldberg Monster Pitts EP

Not sure if this is the right forum (ARFS might be better) but I have a motor question in relation to a Goldberg Monster Pitts EP Bipe I bought this summer as a winter project. The manual calls for an AXI 2820 on a plane that is only 38" along its' wingspan. This seems like an awfully heavy/powerful motor for this plane. The motor mount box looks like it would barely support a brushed 400 let alone a large-ish brushless (5 oz wieght). I planned to use an Axi 2814 but the manual also says the planes' AUW is over three pounds! This would be at the performance max of the 2814 but then again, it's an ounce and a half lighter than the 2820. Anyway, does anyone have any advice for/experience with this plane? Also, it looks like there are a lot of areas that need reinforcement as they really look too sparsely glued/built (landing gear mounts, battery tray area...). Has anyone had any problems with this plane in terms of build strength? Thanks in advance!

Re: Goldberg Monster Pitts EP

Don't forget that you have almost 2X wing-span for drag calculation.
