A123 Question

I'm thinking of building a 1/7th scale TF warbird as an electric conversion - either the P39 or Sea Fury.

I'm thinking of buying A123s for the conversion. What kind of voltage and amperage should I be aiming at for good power and flight time with a EFlite Power 60 or equivilant motor?

Better yet, would 6S2P 2300 mah be enough?

Re: A123 Question

The nominal voltage for A123 cells is 3.3v per cell. So a 6S would be 19.8v. The 2s would obviously give you 4600mah. A123 has a constant discharge rating of 30C so that would provide 138amps continuous. Keep in mind that A123 cells are heavier than a similar voltage / capacity of a lipo.

A 7S A123 would be equivalent to a 6S lipo.

Re: A123 Question

I'm not familiar with these A123 batteries. You seem to have a lot of knowledge about them. Can you provide some basic info. or recommend a web site where I can find out more about them?
