If you were interested in R/C airplanes and gliders which hobby shop in Toronto would you go to if you could only go to one?

Thumbs up Re: Toronto hobby shops

Hi ; I would go to A&J Hobbies because Jack is an experienced glider/sailplane modeller & competitor.

Re: Toronto hobby shops

Not sure about sailplanes but for R/C planes I would go to to Pinnacle in Markham. Ron & Dave are the two most helpful & friendly guys you could find.

Re: Toronto hobby shops

I would have to second the Pinnacle Hobbies. Agreed that Dave and Ron are great to deal with. Chances are they have a glider in stock that would suit your fancy, or they could order one in if they dont. Their prices are also lower than A+J

Re: Toronto hobby shops

I have to second Hobby Hobby as well. Friendly, helpful, well staffed, well stocked and they know their stuff.

Oh yeah, and if they say they are going to order something in for you - they do it, and quick.

I have to also put the word in for Pinnacle Hobby in Markham. Never had an issue getting product and/or advice.

Re: Toronto hobby shops

When I first saw this post I laughed when the guy goes "If you can only go to one".

I knew what to expect in the responses, and it seems like the usual Pinnacle-HobbyHobby-AJ responses

So the guy is right back where he started. LOL

The truth is they are all good hobby shops.
Dont bother arguing about price if you have to drive an extra 30 miles round trip to save a few bucks

Which one I go to is based on:
1) geography- which one is closest.
2) who has the part I need

My first choice is Pinnacle just because they are closest to where I live. I have also estalished a first name relationship with Dave and Ron. The service there is superb.
You will appreciate your local hobby shop when you break a part and need it NOW so you can fly TODAY

Support your local hobby shop!

Re: Toronto hobby shops

Max makes a god point.

I go to A&J because its close, and contrary to a comment above, Arden always tries and match Great Hobbies prices. I'm always picking Jack's brains simmply because Jack has done it all and seen it all in his many, many years of modelling. Seems he's covered just about every discipline in model aircraft. They have alot in stock, and if they dont have what I need, and cant wait for them to bring it in, then off to Pinnacle I go.

Hobby Hobby is a last resort for me because its far for me to drive to make it worth my while, and if you are a little clausterphobic, that's not the place you wanna be. He's got alot of stuff packed into a very tiny space.
