A Smart-Fly Ignition Regulator, (5.5v) or Smart-Fly adjustable regulator, (set for say 5.8v) work great as well. If the servo will work on 6.0v then Smart-Fly also has their PatternRegulator, (6.0v) as well.

There are quite a few Futaba and JR servos that really don't like anything over 6.0v. Especially if you are trying to use a fast tail rotor servo for throttle.

All that you need to do with the A123 packs is to set them for discharge cycle
right after charge.
Take of no more than 100mAh. That takes the edge of the pack and drops it down to 6.5-6.7V where it will stay almost to the end.

Time the usage as once the pack drops it drops.
There is very little warning.
