Question Old Keil Kraft Kits

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Are the old KK Kits any good for conversion to electric? or are they too light.
If they can be used, has anyone any idea what power would be required?

Re: Old Keil Kraft Kits

I have a feeling they could be converted, especially with the ultra-light outrunner setups that we have available for indoor foamies. The only issue would be setting up some sort of control system. They would probably work well as a 3-channel, as you could fairly easily modify the tail feather to have moving rudder and elevator.

I just built a rubber powered Guillow P-51 and had the same thoughts. I might go and get another one to try a conversion on.

Personally I would buy some balsa and scratch build them from the plans which you could copy. Kits like that should be preserved. Very nice

Also I think you will find the balsa in the KK kit to be slightly heavy and brittle.

Re: Old Keil Kraft Kits

The perfect electronics for those little planes would be what they are using in the Mustand and 3D bi-plane on horizon hobby.
The Mustang you can get the RTF version and that includes everything including a charger and transmitter for 129 and free shipping at horizon hobby
on the internet or the Micro 3D bi-plane.

Both planes weigh 1 oz RTF,but foam would be more durable and repairs easier, try to get Depron foam it's the lightest.
