Night Flying

Well I started a Telemaster some time ago. Decided to change to electric and then decided to make it a night flyer. I will cover it in white and the colored ledís will give it color at night from behind the covering. I can cycle through the colors buy turning the knob for one channel and when all the way over it cycles through all the colors in sequence. Red, green, blue and white. Right now itís only the wing in the bones I am working on the same for the fuse and tail plane.

Re: Night Flying

Yes, very cool but, if you cover it with white, it may not be bright enough to fly. Monokote use to make clear covering. You should consider that. Also, with the LEDs where they are, the plane will dissapear when it comes straight back toward you. I know this from experience!

Re: Night Flying

Very cool!

As others have suggested you need to have some lights pointed so that you can see the plane when it's coming directly toward you. It's really important for landing and I have found that lighting up the leading edge works well.

Also, I found out the hard way that you need to tell top from bottom more than left from right. Scale type lighting schemes don't work very well for RC.

I did an Ultra Stick 25e night flyer and it comes with a sort of see through white covering on the bottom. I left some of it on and it works really good with colored LED's. I tried using the normal white that was on the top of the wing, but it was too dim for night flying. It shows up well in the shop, but not once in the air - especially if there are city lights in the background.
