Who's flying outdoors this winter? I already have my planes on skis and have been flying off snow/ice the last couple of saturdays. I'm waiting for some more snow before I bring my float planes out and fly off snow.

Re: Winter Flying

I was out today.....

I got in a couple of flights with a Formosa (electric) landing gear so ski were not required.

I should be heading out again tomorrow as conditions look as if they will be good. Maybe tonight I install skis on one of my nitro planes.

Re: Winter Flying

We don't have much snow yet...Ha, ha. But we have plenty of cold air.

I've got my skis on and just waiting.

Installing floats is a great way to practice for float season, BTW.

Re: Winter Flying

Does any one have problems with hand crank fuel pumps freezing up in the cold? I use a Hangar 9 ultra fuel pump for gas and It won't turn in the cold. but once in the house for a few minutes it starts to turn. I have it mounted on the fuel jug with the outlets on the bottom so the fuel is not sitting in the pump.

Re: Winter Flying

I'm bulding up a Super Decathlon just for winter skiing. Can't wait to try it out. Hopefully the snowbank I crash into is nice and fluffy....

Re: Winter Flying

Given the amount of snow so far I can get by on wheels for quite a while yet, and the Weather Network is forcasting rain for Friday and Saturday.

Re: Winter Flying

A bunch of us flew today in Aurora.
There is a light dusting on the field at the moment.
We all had skis, but larger diameter wheels would still work at the moment as long as the plane wasn't to heavy.

I even maidened a new plane today It was awesome

Re: Winter Flying

AS Alberta is now warming up, 2 of us have been flying 3D parkflyers with lights on them after supper/work.
Every time we get a few onlookers coming in off the Hi-Way. A good way to promote our upcomming mall display (Feb). And lots of fun, another member is getting a foamy kit tonight to join us yet this week.
Merry Christmas.
