What truck is better?HPI SavageX/ XL or the Older Traxxas 2.5. I am looking for my first truck and I don't have a lot of money. I might be getting the traxxas for $175 tonight. And Can you switch The savage 3 spd tranny for the traxxis stock one?
Comments would be apperciated

Re: HPI and Traxxas

I would say, which ever hobby store around you stocks parts for what you want between the two. Comes in very handy in a mishap. Won't go wrong with either. Well unless it's nitro, i hope those are electric. With today's performance in motors and batteries, not sure why anyone would want the nitro fuss.

Re: HPI and Traxxas

IMO, The savage is much more forgiving. The Traxxas is not really that durable. The savage is a beast. I would spring for a used Savage over a new traxxas. BUT I do however have a traxxas stampede electric and its great. When it comes down to a nitro power take the savage.
I have owned a savage and its hands down a better truck period! Remember this is just my opinion.
