I have a Kelly Racer (Kyosho) electric on 6S, goes 124.6mph now (198klph), goes almost that fast straight up, scarry. I'm new to the sport, have not raced, but like to see them go fast!
Yours are probably faster!!
I've only been flying for a year, in fact, I haven't even personally flew this plane, I had a 30 year pilot fly it, we intend to hook up dual control this summer, we'll likely prop down to start as well.
Guys gotta start somewhere, right. I'm not sure there is even any pylon racers locally, no one in our club. flytwice

Different classes, I would assume, how fast, what power?

Both airplanes fly to AMA rules, different classes. Both are powered by Nelson racing engines, Different set ups.

The yellow one is AMA 428 rules set (Q500) although a little more than basic. Max speed about 150mph. Prop, APC 8.8 x 9.0 racing prop, 19,000 + rpm.

The blue one is AMA 422 rules set (Q40) The top racing class. Max speed about 180mph. Prop APC 7.4 x 8.0 Carbon reinforced prop, 24,000 + rpm.

24000rpm, can you say screamer, did not realize they where that fast either. Leaves my Kelly looking pretty slow! The Kelly turns 10500 rpm on a 12/12Thanks for the great pic's Ed! flytwice

If you see an event for pylon racing posted, go as far as you care to drive their quite impressive, it would be worth the trip.

I assume there is pylon racing in southern Ontario, have never seen a post of any events.
If anyone has events this summer, I'd like to take one in to see the planes fly!! flytwice
