The only flying being done around here will involve the Cx2 cruising around the basement and watching the home movies that I have made of our planes in the last four years.

Re: Jan 1st Flying

This is dedicated - or perhaps nuts

Bill Teeter flying today at the Hespeler Model Aviator's field. Bill is an IMAC flyer, but had to keep things in close today, as the vis was not great. The pictures are enhanced, as they were almost completely washed out. They make the visibility look much better than it was.

I waited around a bit to see if the snow would let up so I could get the heli in the air but, it didn't stop until I pulled in the driveway at home....

Ah well, a good day regardless.

Re: Jan 1st Flying

I decided not to go today for our frozen finger fun fly. Not just because of the cold but also the snow. From talking to another member that attended, the clubhouse was packed to the rafters as nobody wanted to be outside.

Re: Jan 1st Flying

I had a bunch of year end stuff to take care off (I don't get paid if I don't invoice for my time.) but finally, I got out to the field. The wind came up while I was in transit to the field. Take off was "an adventure' and so was landing. Landing approach ground speed was about walking speed. Plane touched down and a gust of wind took it up again, leveled it out and touched again, another gust took it up and I settled for letting it come to rest in the tall grass at the side of the strip.

Anyway, I got in a first flight today.

Re: Jan 1st Flying

The Aurora Model Aircraft Club had their Annual Jan 1st Frozen Finger.
It was snowing with a light breeze, but we still had a really good turn out.

Re: Jan 1st Flying

The Ajax Rc Model club had an excellent turn out with pilots, friends and loved ones showing up. The pilots wearing orange hats are the winter flyers. At the club, one must take off and land a plane with skis on snow to become a member of Ordre de la Toque Orange.

Re: Jan 1st Flying

Hi everyone!!

We went to breakfast at Smitties here in good old Sydney Cape Breton.

Then went to the field for about an hour and a half and flew

We had an absolutely perfect day. Light winds and sunshine and temp about -2

For a small club we still had about 10 -12 guys and a couple spectators.

Best 1st fly of the year I can recollect and I've been at it for 30 yrs.

Happy New Year to all you modellers and if you ever get our way plse look us up.
