Crimping aluminum sheet would probably work well, if you have the right setup. I have limited machine tools and equipment. I tried manually forming ridges into aluminum sheet, and it worked ok, for a few, but I could not get them to have consistent spacing and to be consistently parallel with my primitive jigging, so I switched to the method I described.

Re: Detailing a DeHavilland Beaver

please forgive me,if I sounded a little bit on the manufactured side,as I am a patternmaker with this side addiction(airplanes).Because my place of employment has all these gadgets,I can sound like everyone should have them in their hobby shop, and it just isn't so.Alex

This thread was inspiring, I hope that the author is going to be able to give us more and that the break in posting is not indicative of bad things happening.

Re: Detailing a DeHavilland Beaver

It's finally finished. That only took 10 years! Ah well ... the rest of life has a way of interfering with our hobby.

I was able to focus quite a bit this winter to get it finished. It was done just a few hours before I headed out to take it to the Toledo show, where I am proud to say it took Best in Class.

I will have to come back soon and add the finishing parts to the build thread, but in the meantime here are some photos.
