It is supposed to be a great plane. as for its 3d abilities at the time it was designed #D was not a big thing. I would think it could be a great 3d flyer if the control surfaces were adapted to make it so. Where are you located. Have a partially built kit 60 sized if you want to make a go of one to try it out.

I built a Super Hots about 20 years ago and still fly it now. It is a very easy to fly airplane, fully airbatic with no nasty habits. However the stock setup does not have enough control surface area or throws for 3D style flying. You could easily modify it for more surface area. It has a thick airfoil gives it good slow speed handling. Overall a great plane imo.
