Re: Helicopter radio difference

Although it depends on the radio itself, generally the heli radios do not have the ratchet on the throttle. Also, there are some minor differences in switch labeling/placement.

Most current midrange and up radios offer the option of flying helis or airplanes - some include special programming for gliders as well.

I just picked up a DX7 airplane version last night, for the purpose of a backup radio, and one I could carry in my work truck. Going through the programming today, I realised it will not do a 140deg swash set up - which I'd need for my Vibes. This however is not because it;s the "Air" version, it's just a function of the general DX7 software - the heli version would be exactly the same. Although this wouldn't be an issue for most helicopters, it is for the way I have set mine up. Just keep this in mind when shopping for a radio.

Hope this helps.

This is my helicopter. There are many like it but, this one is mine.
