Corsair offering from the KING

I had a chance to maiden the HK Corsair model from Hobby King for a fellow club member:

I have always wanted to get a parkzone Corsair, but never got around to getting one.
|Then my friend Kevin called me and asked me if I wanted to give him a hand getting his HK corsair ready. He got it from HK for $74 (dont be fooled- shipping is 40 bucks on top of that!!!!), as it came without a manual. The kit comes with servos, Brushless motor and and ESC pre-installed. The ESC even comes with the new HK XT60 connetors.

We got it up and running in about 1/2 hr, and ready to maiden. All I did was bolt on the tail, then plugged in all the servos into a reciever and we were good to go. We didnt need a manual, but later that evening Kevin did some research and discovered that the model was made by Art Tech, and he did find a manual on their site.

The 1300 3S batteries he ordered came with XT60 connectors as well so after we assembled it, all we had to do was just charge the batteries and we were ready to fly.

A 1300mah 3S battery is a tight but good fit into the battery hatch.

Then it was time to fly it.

It flew amazingly well.

Because it was snowy in the field we were going to fly out of, we removed the wheels and opted for a hand launch.

The Maiden hand launch was not really a "Throw" , more of a gentle nudge and it was off. It climbed straight and level and it only needed one click of left aileron.

They did do a great job of matching the prop diameter and pitch to the motor because it felt and sounded like the motor was never under duress at any time- meaning the the amperage at full power will be low. On the maiden, we flew it for at least 5 minutes or more, and even after we landed, I'm sure she had lots of juice. Most of the time it was 1/2 throttle flying with the occasional burst of full power to climb out after a low pass.

This plane has no bad habits and I could not get it to spin, meaning it will be a very forgiving flier.

It does the most amazing scale climb outs and rolls at the top. What a pleasure to fly. It looks so good, it flies so nice and its not very expensive...I might have to get me one of these.....

Re: Corsair offering from the KING

I got one of these planes in August of last year. Flew great and I even installed the nav.light package from HK for 10 bucks. I have heard that I should change the prop to the 2 blade parkzone one for better performance. I will post pics and video later. Awesome bang for the buck.

Re: Corsair offering from the KING

Just wanted to add my 2 cents,
I had the hellcat from hobbyking, flew great. I put a 2 blade prop in with great results.

Mine crashed at the end of the second flight due to the elevator servo going full down all
on it's own on a low level fly by. The plane was destroyed.
I would recomend replacing the servo's. I have read reviews with guys with the same problem.

Just don't want someone else out $150

Bring it on!!! If your man enough....
