Re: Here's another plane to identify....

Yup. The good ol' Sig Kommander. It was dubbed as an "aileron trainer" in its day. It was usually a newcomer's second airplane. The first being the Sig Kadet (the Kadet LT40, Kadet MkII, Kadet Sr and Seniorita are all descendents of the highly successful Kadet). In those days the Sig Kadet had no ailerons, so the Kommander was the second plane a person moved up to once they masterd the Kadet. The long landing gear extending from the wings gave a gread deal of cushioning when the intermidiate flier made a boo-boo on take-off or landing. It didnt rip the fuselage off in the case of a standard aluminum landing gear bracket (yeah, it didnt look so hot but it saved the plane)

In the air, the plane was great as others have mentiond. The most common mod was to replace the wing- mounted landing gear to what is shown in the original posters message......and when that is done, well dang- if it doesnt look very similar to a Sig Kavalier!
