HobbyKing Jetiger?

I had read a previous post where someone had purchased one of these. Has anyone flown one of these? If so what are their thoughts?

Thanks. George

Edit:After posting I found the original thread.

Re: HobbyKing Jetiger?

You cant go wrong for the $75 bucks George.

If you dont modifiey it at all, you will still have a great flying plane. On 3s youll probley be doing around 65-70mph. Its very easy to hand launch. it tends to wiggle a lot on the landing becouse the air gets packed in the intake. Just keep the fan on slightly and it straigten right out.

Since my last post on the other link i have made some changes. Im now only useing one tail fin in the center. Ive cut the air intake dam larger so the air doesnt get traped infront of the fan. I put a CC54a ESC in the very rear of the plane and am useing a Don's Wicked 5400 motor with 4s 1800mha pack.
I attached my "How Fast" device to it last week and hit 100mph

Its a blast!

Re: HobbyKing Jetiger?

Thanks for the update. Buddy and I are looking for some cheap EDF units to knock around with. I've got two 3s 1300 packs from a previous project so I will probably go with a stock set up.
Shipping is a real kick in the pants! I think it's about $80 for two planes. Still pretty cheap I guess.

Re: HobbyKing Jetiger?

I was also looking at these. I saw one fly and it was impresive, but the stock set up crapped out on it right away so he upgraded. Never saw it fly on the stock set up so it's hard to compare the two.

Re: HobbyKing Jetiger?

Hello gents, I flew my new Jetiger on Mar. 7th it was nice weather out. Out of the box I just checked the CG and flew it. I used a Turnigy 1300 3s 25c and stock setup. It flew great and now I want to go faster. But Tuesday night I had it out again and flying fine when I lost it for a second while making a right banking turn at full speed. Down it went and hit the only rock in the field. After picking up the 7 pieces, (wish I had photos)took it home and repaired the whole thing in about 1 hour. Going to try and see what happens tonite. All in all it is a great little flyer.

Re: HobbyKing Jetiger?

glad to hear you enjoy it. If was wondering if you would be willing to install one of thouse 4800kv EDF motors from HK. Pick an ESC and go 4s for the real fun. It can take an 1800mah pack easily but you have to cut out all the cockpit re-enforcment ribs. It wont weaken it at all. On that note..... Mine decintergrated the last flight during a highspeed pass. Was pretty wild to see. I think the Fan Unit worked it way free. Its all back together now and ready to go again. Gotta love that EPO foam

It was awesome to see, My wife found the LiPo/Rx/ESC a good 50' away from the crash site. Trevor did cut away a lot of foam around the fan though. He's always pushing the envelope.

Smile Re: HobbyKing Jetiger?

Well I got it back together and had a test flight. It flew fine after the rebuild. I do like the single rudder idea and would like to try a bigger motor. I also want to put my video cam on it and get some high speed passes on video. Will post them when done. Awesome little jet.......
