Unfortunately that is correct. I spend a lot of time perfecting things other never notice & worse I wasn't necessarily charging for the hours spent doing it. The same applies to a model build because I build flying models which as we all know don't always fly well or for very long. Several people wanted me to make the Valkyrie into a static display model but I just kept saying it was built to fly & it does very well.

I returned to building / flying in 2012 & built a glider kit I had from the 70's. I think I've build one other plans built trainer plus a Top Flite Cessna 182 which went on hold nearly finished when I learned about the Lancaster plan set. That build is here. https://flic.kr/s/aHskJuy1Vs

I'm back working on the Cessna build now after solving a few things I didn't like with the kit because as an event photographer I need a pilot in scale aircraft to make them look realistic in the photos while flying. I hadn't ordered an interior kit which became hard to find when Top Flite got shut down so I've now built my own scale like interior & designed a way to conceal all the wiring that passes through the aircraft & up into the wing.
It shows that you are very detailed orientated, you go all in on your builds. Both on the cars and your planes. Nice to see something like that again!

It looks like an amazing car, the vetts are nice but if I had a choice I would go for the Bonneville.

Oh and, you did a beautiful job on the Valkyrie as well. If that was your first build you can be proud, actually even if you have built before you could still be proud!! I am thinking of doing my first scratch build this coming winter. I have built many many kits but it is time for something a little more challenging.

Re: It's official. Old School Carl Goldberg Valkyrie build.

Thanks again Michael. The Valkyrie Builders Group were very helpful & supplied a lot of helpful information. I checked the RC Groups info too & it was also helpful but there was more activity at the Facebook group and as much as some dislike Facebook it can be put to good use in cases like this.

Rick that's actually a US built Bonneville convertible & one of only 16 built with the engine & 4 speed combo it has. It was imported from Richmond Virginia & may have originally belonged to someone involved in NASCAR racing. That's my guess as that combo didn't seem to be a regular option package.

In the article's text you give thanks to the Valkyrie group so a future builder of the model can find them.. as well as where to find the plans/supplements ...I like the article included the specs and power drive train information of the finished/flying model.

Rick I've spent 50+ years in the automotive repair / restoration industry & I've built tow trucks & plow harnesses as well as made many one off metal patches & molded my own fiberglass parts for Corvette repair. Once you get a bit good at it it can also be rewarding & again you get to learn & practice some engineering challenges. I have retired from doing it for customers but still have a few of my own projects to get back to. Here's the link to some of what I have done in the automotive field after switching to a digital camera. When I used film the customer got both the photos & the negatives which I now wish I had kept. The earlier years were mainly metal cars requiring lots of metal fabrication.

Like Merv said I hope it inspires a few to re think that buying ARF's & assembling them is "building a model airplane" I agree it's an easy way to get to fly radio control & consider that as another totally different hobby to building which once upon a time was the only way to fly model aircraft. I like to fly BUT I really enjoy the building & re engineering etc that creates a model.
It's a nice combination of text and pictures - 6 of the build/close up of the wing detail and 6 at the flying field.
