Re: Servo power system for glow plane That Batshare and the Battery Buffer draw from both batteries. It will draw from both simultaneously. If one battery fails or suddenly drops voltage, it's isolated from the system and your system runs from just the one battery. |

I guess the more things you add to the system the more things to go wrong...if the bat safe allows one battery to take over if the other one fails (without doing any harm) then it seems like a good idea. If that isn't how it works then it seems the better way to go is just a 2500mah single. Re: Servo power system for glow plane Yes, I forgot to mention about the separate switching between the battery and the sharing device. The Battery Buffer and the BatShare are the same type of device and do have a small current draw, so if there is no switch before the device, it will drain your battery. I don't fly Spektrum, so totally forgot about the use of a powersafe receiver, that's another option. |

Re: Servo power system for glow plane I had almost the same set up in a small warbird: 2 X 700 MAh LiFE tied through a Smart-Fly BatShare. https://www.smart-fly.com/batshare/BatShare%20Standard Only specific is you would need to switch each battery on and off separately. No longer need it so PM if interested. |

Re: Servo power system for glow plane If you are using spektrum and want to use double batteries I would get a small powersafe receiver . I would think with your setup even one 700 would be good for a few flights if you want to use the receiver you have ,just watch it closely for the first few flights . |

Re: Servo power system for glow plane You can run parallel packs, but you would have to put in a device that isolates them from each other such as a battery buffer. It will isolate each battery in the event of a failure and you don't need to run matched packs. I run duals on my 800 class gas helicopters where the extra weight in the nose was beneficial for balancing, but just single packs on anything else. In agreement with Len here on a 2500 pack. I get plenty of flying time on my planes and while I usually charge before each flying session, I have gone out on short notice without charging and there's still plenty of power. |
