He said he only used a 16 oz tank with his P20 as he wanted to keep it light to get off grass. Said you have to carve out a lot of foam ducting for the EDF to get a larger tank in but thought it was do-able.

Re: Converting EDF to turbines

A friend out of the Seattle area did one with a P20 years ago. He was flying it this weekend at Princeton Jets. I'll ask him what tank he used.

Cheers,

Re: Converting EDF to turbines

I now got 4 flights on the F22 using the kit UAT and no leaks so far - I have 2oz MAP on hand if it goes.

I was flying at Thunder Thrust and plane fly's great - The plane is light and does not steer well under crosswind conditions - tends to tip onto wingtips easily - Two massive rudders want to weather-vane in crosswind. Other than that I get about 5min of fuel and I go into landing mode after 3:30 beeps on my TX timer. Very happy with X45 so far runs great.

PS: The heat shields I made work great with no signs of melting

I live in Welland Ont and would consider doing the conversion labor for people this winter - It took me about 2 weeks to do mine. Cost of labor would be 500.00$ Cdn - I would require you provide all the materials needed to do the job

I just looked it up, if it’s from Nova-Jet, get yourself a better UAT, the cap wasn’t sealing. The seal that came with the UAT reacted with the kerosene…..

Hey Ken,
I have the F22 with the king tech 30….
What conversion kit are you using? Because the air trap tank that came with this
F22 was garbage, I installed a 2oz MAP

Thanks, I'm looking forward to the maiden. My jet life has been really slow. I built that Jetmach 44 in 2020, it had three flights put on it by my mentor, then I never got another chance for the rest of the season. 2021, both the jet guys in my area were busy with buying houses and moving, so that was a wash as well. Last Sunday, I FINALLY had my first flight with it. When I bought it, I thought given the similar styling to my trusty old Sig Komander, flying should be similar as well, and it was. At half throttle, very similar flying characteristics which killed the bad nerves pretty quick. The only mistake I made, and recovered from, was pulling too tight of a turn on final that dropped some altitude pretty fast. Can't yank a turn like the Komander LOL. Hoping to get lots of flight time on it this summer and maybe maiden that Avanti.

I've been so slow working on my Sebart Mini Avanti-S. Bought the thing over a year ago. I was really close to being finished, then in an oops moment, I knocked the plane off of my stand, cracked up a bunch of paint and a little bit of fiberglass, and screwed up the front gear doors that I worked so hard on to 1) Try and reshape them as the factory fit sucked really bad, and 2), mold a buldge into them to fit a larger nose wheel so that the doors would close all the way.

So, I took to sanding the nose, fixing the fiberglass, instead of trying to match the yellow and silver, gave the plane a slightly different look with red. Then I took off the factory gear doors, made a frame out of thin balsa, sheeted the back side, filled, sanded, etc, etc to make a new mold. I just got the new front doors fitted. I see one spot I need to touch up some paint and another that I have to put an iron to and tweak the back side to fit a little tighter. Regardless, I'm much happier with the new doors than the factory ones.
Nice job, I've done the same a number of times. You will enjoy the way that it flies, its great jet.

Re: Converting EDF to turbines

Just in case you are looking for more fuel volume for the FW F22

I’ve had one printed but not installed yet.
