Re: EDR-103 Glowlite A silicon diode drops .7V as the current goes through it so using two NICAD or NMHI batteries in series gives 1.6V and a nice hot glow plug. I have two 5000 MAH NMHI batteries in series and a 10Amp diode in series. This makes for nice cold weather starts. I also have one of these batteries connected to a regular glow starter lead and it gives the same dull glow as a NICAD. |

Re: EDR-103 Glowlite Along with an MPI MX-9900 and a DGS-2, an optical power isolator and some lighting rigs, I found one of these at the Toledo Show last Friday, (all for under $20). I was able to locate schematics and instructions on the first 2 onboard glow drivers, but only the schematic on the EDR, nothing on programming. To get the recommended 1900 MAh capacity you would need to connect smaller cells in parallel, but for two cylinder or dual engine arrangements it appears you need to add another of equal capacity in series for that extra glow plug. From what I gather two plugs is the max that one can handle. |

Re: EDR-103 Glowlite Ok, got the answer. NIiCD is prefered over NiMH. (Handels 3A discharge better). Several batteries in parallel are ok. |

EDR-103 Glowlite I recently bought a plane with an onboard EDR-103 which I know nothing about. The 1cell battery is toast. EDR doesn't appear to provide a range of battery options and my easiest replacement would be AA nimh 2450mah which I have on hand. Is 2450 too much? Or how many can I use in a parallel config? 'Don't want to burn up glow plugs. |
