Re: Pylon racing Quote:
That is a Quarter Midget, that used a HOT 15 size motor, no muffler and a very small prop. These plane where very fast and you landed dead stick. They where raced in the US in the 70 -80's and then fazed out. That class was never raced here in Canada. A 25 electric motor could be fitted in that fuselage. Ken |

Re: Pylon racing Thunder Chicken, You asked about 25 size racing classes. Not too many of those exist. Ken noted the EF1 class for electric 25 size planes. In Calgary they fly a club 20 plane in winter to keep their skills up. Some US clubs fly Quickee 500 planes with 25 on them but they are not official classes. The EF1 ARF planes are a challenge to convert to glow power because they were not built to take the vibration of a glow engine. They can take it but really not built for it. The Matney EF1 kits can be built to take the engine so they would be a good choice once you have learned to fly a pylon plane. Ken suggests a Quickee 500 style plane as they take off and land very well and will take some abuse, the EF1 is more or a pure race plane and some have bad habits when horsed around. I hope this helps. |

Re: Pylon racing I agree with Ken, a Quickee 500 is a great plane for your Jett engine. The ARF that Ken has is a great flyer, I fly one for sport and to practise pylon. Mine has an thunder tiger 46 which has about the same power as your Jett 25. Ken has built a few (LOL) race planes so he can guide you on the airframe etc. Consider the Jett fuel system with the bubbless tank, it is a life saver for high performance engine setups, the downside is the extra money to buy the tanker (filler ) for a bubbleless tank. I think it is worth it to protect the engine. Dubb Jett has a few videos on his site to help as well. |

Re: Pylon racing Check out Jett Engineering on the web. Dud Jett is a nitro engine manufacturing company in the US. |

Re: Pylon racing Hah....... do skim/read the thread..... the Jett 25 was identified twice, once with post #12 showing a video of it (you may have a problem accessing the video if you are using a mobile device). |

Re: Pylon racing http://www.matneymodels.com/qm.html Scroll down to the qm15's. I have an AJ2 kit waiting to be built. Prather made a 15 size little Toni as well that was a great flier. |

Re: Pylon racing A q500 with a 25, even a Jett is going to be pretty docile. Look at matney models and get a quarter midget. They have a couple. The class used 15's back in the day. A Jett 25 on one would be awesome. |
