I also built another Kougar. I think your field was the last place I flew one back in the 90s.
Ya, I did the maiden flight on my Kougar this summer, what a smooth plane, love it. Have a Saito 56 I'm going to put in a Sig Smith Miniplane next. Have to get my 1/4 scale clipped wing Cub that I was going to have finished this spring finished first though LOL.

Thanks for the suggestion Dennis. Good idea.

Re: OS 52 Surpass on Cub

A fellow had a Goldgerg cub many years back in Dawson with a Saito 50 and it flew great. Definitely go 12x6 or even 13x5 if you want less speed and jump off the ground take offs.

Oops, just remembered Martin had the Kavalier back in those days

You won't have any problem getting it off the ground. My Komander was my first plane after a 20 year break. Took off at half throttle.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
Yes, I guess 12 x 6 is the way to go then. I was careful to keep it light so far but will still be 6 and 1/2 pounds with more wing area than you. I was more concerned with getting
a good takeoff run from grass.

Re: OS 52 Surpass on Cub

I have a OS52 Surpass 4 stroke on my Sig Komander, 5.5lbs, and I get 9400 RPM on the ground with an APC 12x6 on 15% fuel. With an APC 12x5, it's turning 11,300 on the ground and when in the air, sounds like it's maxed out on RPM as there appears to be no difference between 2/3rds and full throttle. Large, effortless loops and great vertical power. While the Cub is heavier than the Komander, it's a Cub, I'm sure it would fly it fine with a little extra power to spare.

OS 52 Surpass on Cub

Wondering how an OS 52 Surpass 4 stroker would be on a Goldberg Cub flying off wheels only ? Assuming it turns a 12 x 5 at approximately 8350 rpm ?
