Thank you both for the info. Scott after a lot of research it would seem that the original colour appeared greenish due to the dope the colours were mixed in, however as the aircraft aged/weathered and prolonged exposure to the elements the colour changed a little due to the "gloss" effect becoming dull and actually became a shade or appeared to become a shade of brown ??
Yes we Brits can be bull headed about some things apparently custom colours on ww1 aircraft being something that those in command frowned on, yet the German air force seemed to have no issue with it at all???
Your comment about no actual colour pictures/photos is duly noted Scott, we are relying on documentation as asking a pilot or member of the forces of that period is not possible now.
