Walbro carb fuel inlet

Has anybody rotated the fuel inlet on a walbro carb? I have a Vogelsang 90 deg bend on a G38, and the fuel inlet is about 1/4 of an inch from the cylinder head. Would like to rotate it 1/4 of a turn away from the head.

Re: Walbro carb fuel inlet

If it's plastic it's risky to move it as they can break, though I have moved a few with success . if it's steel it's no problem they rotate quite easily , though it does require some force to break it free. I always use a bit of red loctite around the base of the nipple when I move it , it will leach in and lock the nipple firmly in the new location. you will see once you break the fitting free it will move quite easily so you want the loctite to keep it secure in the new location . cheers

Re: Walbro carb fuel inlet

The plastic nipple is fitted onto a brass inlet. Don’t try to rotate, as it will break. Pry the plastic nipple off of the brass fitting and then press onto the fitting in the desired position. Be very careful as the plastic nipple is easily broken.

Re: Walbro carb fuel inlet

Thanks for all the info! Will see what happens if I pry it out or try and turn it.

Re: Walbro carb fuel inlet

Popped the plastic fuel fitting off of the spline, but cracked it anyway.
Back to the drawing board.

Re: Walbro carb fuel inlet

Good luck getting a new one from horizon. I ordered one and it took months.

Re: Walbro carb fuel inlet

Usually after the plastic breaks and the brass inner is exposed, its a pretty easy pull.
Real trick when you get metal replacement from b&b is that it will be a loose fit.
Take a pointed punch, and make 8 -12 light dents around the hole about 1mm from the hole edge. It will close the hole in the soft carb metal, and when you repress, it will press in with no leakage. If you want to go a step extra, tiny dab of red or blue locktite doesn’t hurt. But i press the new nipple half way, then add the dab, make sure it wets around the shaft, and complete the press.

I broke a plastic one years ago. B&B part cost was nothing compared to shipping. I got 8-10 nipples. I done 5-6 repairs over the years for friends.
