Question? Would you fly at a EDF Event?

Been thinking of maybe running a MAAC sanctioned EDF event next summer 2022 in the Niagara Ontario area

If I can bring proof on interest it would make for an easier sell idea to my new club
I think if we had at least 25-30 pilots it would make for an excellent size event.

My idea of a EDF event would start:

Friday afternoon open flying with the club
Saturday 9am - 5pm EDF only
Sunday 9am - noon open flying with the club

The field is large firm grass field cut very short excellent for EDF

Time of year late June - early July?

Not my first rodeo I ran Fan Fair in Ottawa for about a decade:

Short answer,,,,, heck yes. I made the trek to one of your EDF events when you ran them near Ottawa. Had a blast and although at the time I only had a small 50mm mig 15 I was made to feel welcome with the bigger edfs. Someone even took my picture on launch and made its way to the maac magazine

Re: Question? Would you fly at a EDF Event?

The parking lot is on grass behind the site fence and there is room for dry campers & tents at the far end. That would have to be approved by club before I can say yes

One thing is club is always saying how much fun night flying (not EDF) is so Friday & Saturday night might be good excuse to get that function added.

But Niagara area is full of Motel's only 5-10 min's from the field - Tourist Trap area

Re: Question? Would you fly at a EDF Event?

The field is excellent for small wheels I've flown both the FW Venom and L39 and have seen a wide variety of models from micro and up get airborne on this field - I would say if I was a golfer I could practice my putting on it.

Night flying and dry camping on site is when the added value fun starts…
