I guess that was part of my point about being heavy ; was with getting a C of G balance .
Would add more weight in the front pushing the weight possibly more in the 28 lb range with added tail and nose weight were the xicoy’s would Bring the weight down from the design weight of 22 or so pounds with the 120mm fans . Would definitely probably be a first and an awesome package.

received my engine today as well.

Didn't look at the serial number.

Had already seen one but still impressive to hold on to.

Also manged to pick up a Freewing F22 with two flights on it so the EDF $hit is coming out and the turbine conversion going in.

Re: Converting EDF to turbines

Interesting, doing more research I found that Motion RC has taken down it's Roban A-10 page. I also saw a video of the Roban A-10 with 120mm fans and 2 x 12 cell 5000mAh batts with a wing failure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo

It is a nice looking airframe but with a wing failure it might need a lot of work to convert to turbine. My MIG-29 has 120mm fans and 2 x 11 cell 5000mAh batts and runs 28lbs and took some extra work to convert to fans from the OS 91's. May have to consider another winter build project for my PST's.

Re: Converting EDF to turbines

I have tried to reconnect with Petro unfortunately to no avail. He did say that once his existing stock was gone he was not making more. I am trying some other leads as the L39 is an amazingly good flyer. I'll post here if I find another source.

What about making it out of drink bottle containers? - have had success with this before. Even managed to "mould" one to shape by applying very light air pressure (1 or 2 psi) and heating with a heat gun. They end up very light.

I just bought a SebArt Avanti used and it has this CM Jets Kevlar Tank - when I get it I'm going to weight it - it looks nicely made but also looks heavy.

I really liked how Deans Avanti flew but don't want to have a heavy brick and would prefer the weight went into useable fuel. So I might switch mine out...

Re: Converting EDF to turbines

Getting x45 ready to bench test. Waiting for the 2380 oil from A/C Spruce.
My question is for the 4 mm festo from tank to shutoff to pump.
How should I mate this tube ( from Gaspar) to the brass tubing that HAB supplied?
Do I slip the tube over plain brass tube and safety wire?
The other two tubes are using soldered on barbs and Tygon type tubing for fill and vent. Both safety wired .
