Guys

Do you prefers to have a number of different size and performance helicopters and to spend many hours for maintenance, tuning up and afford parts and batteries for each one. or to have only one hi-end helicopter with hi-tech expensive electronics ?

Many different sizes, just one gets a little boring. From a 100 Trex to a 700 gasser and every size in between nitro and electric. High end electronics, mid price, and lower end electronics.

Re: One or 100 helicopters do you like to have

Since fixed and flew full size thought it would be a neat exercise to try out these smaller versions. The mechanics and aerodynamics are the same.

Started out on 380 size 12 years ago, then upped to several 450's. All highly altered and experimented on, so much so was asked to be a tech mod on Heliguy out of the UK.

Finally up to 600, both electric and nitro. Sold the nitro and exclusively electric now. Have a 600 size X-frame FBL looking to complete sometime in the future if can find the rest of the parts required, (boom, clamps, etc.).

Found the larger sizes actually easier to fly.

I'm just goofing around. I bought a Blade Nano S2 for indoor, and its fun, but wow, can I get behind it quickly. My outdoor is a Blade 150S. Much nicer, and the grass is much softer. Again, I suck, but its getting my rudder finger a work-out.

Its "Several" for me.

Nitros: Large, medium and small

Electric: Large, medium and small

Several scale 450's in different bodies.
...and a couple of micro indoor helis.

Re: One or 100 helicopters do you like to have

Since 2005 to now I've had 12 helicopters. But recently sold off the last one except my Trex 600. One is enough. Too expensive trying to maintain more than one. I won't fly anything under a 600 size now. The cost of the Heli hobby has gone up ridiculously, I don't understand why....?? Even the people selling in the classifieds are asking too much for used. I love anything helicopter, don't get me wrong, the plan was to go heli's only and stay with em but they are a PITA to work on when things go wrong. I'm tired of it. Helicopters is a love hate relationship. I'll keep my T600 to keep my Heli skills up and bring it to the field once and a while as a conversation piece. I doubt I'll get another one anytime soon. My T600 is a really nice heli to own and fly. I have it set up to fly like a Cadillac. I can't stomach that 3D stuff, fricking boring to watch. I sport fly skids down only. I just bought a few airplanes and jumping into that. I have a preference for WW1 Bi-planes. Have since I was a kid. It was eventual that I embraced airplanes.

Re: One or 100 helicopters do you like to have

I only had the one 450 size for several years. Now returning to the hobby, I have a micro size, two 450s and a 550. My experience with the larger Heli is the same as others, it’s easier to fly!

Now I’m way down the rabbit hole I believe I probably need at least one or two more...

Ya once you go from a 450 to a 500 to a 600, the bigger ones are easier to fly and see when they are farther away. Bigger to work on too. Bigger does fly better.

Re: One or 100 helicopters do you like to have

I would agree to keep one heli over 600 size for outdoor, and one micro size for indoor fun fly .
yes those days the heli electronics have gone crazy pricey, eg. the average full size cyclic and tail servos cost as much if not more than the heli kit itself
