Any Interest in Old Brushed Motors?

Hi,
I'm just trying to figure out if anyone still runs the older brushed motors. I have an ASTRO FLIGHT COBALT-25 (Brushed) and I no longer run boats, so I'm trying to figure out what to do with it?
Thanks

Hi, Yes, it appears that there is still interest in old quality. You've been beat to the punch on that one.
Cheers

I Have a bunch of them as well. Some NIB.
I took two planes out last week and I got pretty good flight times considering they were brushed motors.

Why I'm in somewhat of a quandary with what to do with the fuel airplane motors I have NIB, either Nitro and Gas. Plan is to get back into this hobby when my body can no longer support the current tangent sport; which the way my body is getting broken and wearing out will be about 5 years tops. So do I keep the NIB Nitro and DLE, or sell them off and plan for electric motors. Two warbirds (Hangar 9 Spit(ARF)) and a Top Flite Corsair (kit) and an Aeroworks 300. The Spit is partially committed to the OS FS-95V in the cowling, the Corsair can go to the DLE or the 2nd OS FS-95V, and the Aeroworks will most likely go Electric if the DLE goes in the Corsair.

Re: Any Interest in Old Brushed Motors?

There are ongoing arguments of brushless electric vs nitro vs gas and they all have their merits so it boils down to what you want.

Downside of nitro and gas motors is if the motor becomes obsolete , parts dry up and then new motors needed.
Lipo batteries , if handled correctly ,can last many years. Initial investment can run into several hundreds of dollars but stretched over a number of years the cost per year drops.. while the initial cost of fuel for gas motors is low , the maintenance cost can be higher.

You will get many differing arguments on this for sure.

It depends on your tastes. No-one can make that decision for you.
The engines you mention are pretty good engines, If you like nitro and gasoline, why not?

In my hangar I have a mix of power for my warbirds. Nitro, gas and electric.
For example, I have a TF gold edition Warhawk with a Nitro OS90 2 stroke. Flies like a dream.
I have a Spitfire with an OS71 four-stroke- flies like a dream
I also have a TF P-47 on electric and a TF CD-3 also on electric. Flies like a dream
And finally, to round out the power usage, I have a KMP zero on gas/ignition. Flies like a dream.

What I am trying to say here is ALL fly well with the power set-ups I have. While I do love the convenience of electrics, there is something about a nitro or gas warbird on a low pass that is also pleasing to the eyes and ears..
It's your choice, mate!

Done. Keep what I have for now. Worry about the powerplant when the time comes.
Thank you all for the experienced reasoning.
Cheers
