Insurance charges

Thank you for fast shipping however not happy with GH charging me $4 insurance. That is wrong for in the real world the shipper absorbs insurance.

This from CP:
Expedited Parcel is the fast, economical ground service for high-volume shippers. You'll move merchandise and reach customers more quickly than with regular ground service. The Expedited Parcel service includes features like Delivery Confirmation and $100 coverage at no charge.

The question is, if my order had been exactly $100 instead of $141 would I still have been charged insurance? What would the insurance charge be for just the $41?

Re: Insurance charges

Shipping charges sting, much like taxes.
Unfortunately what choice do we have with products not available locally?
At least you can still get what you want right?

Re: Insurance charges

The complaint 4stripes is not about shipping charges or taxes, it's about insurance charged to the customer where in the industry it's the shippers cost should he want to insure. I would bet most transactions here are completed without insurance. CP is very reliable with their standard shipping w/o insurance or signature at the door.

Re: Insurance charges

I have the same gripe with Great Hobbies but the answer is take the business elsewhere. Else they can do what they wish as a retailer. We can also do what we wish.
No different than labour charge for auto service in a facility and then "shop materials" (used to be included in the labour rate but cash grab!!) CP "fuel surcharge".........
I will say they are not in a simple easy to succeed business these days

Re: Insurance charges

Postal insurance is simply against loss. If you ship something, that you packaged, and it arrives damaged, that is on you. Regardless of the insurance you paid.

Re: Insurance charges

What it really comes down to buying from GH is their free shipping on orders valued at $100 or more is not free shipping. It is free shipping less their customer paid insurance charge.🤨

Re: Insurance charges

Figure out what your time is worth as if you had to drive to Mississauga. or China.
We are spoiled with the local and on-line selection of hobby stuff IMO.
I hate the price of premium gas but my Porsche only runs on Premium!
First world problems....

Re: Insurance charges

Time 4strioes has nothing to do with this topic. If GH were being truthful upfront (instead they add it in your check out, surprise surprise), their ads on free shipping would say - free shipping less the cost of insurance. CP expedited shipping covers the first $100 value of the merchandise but I guess that's not enough to satisfy their greed. Wonder if that is taken into account when they levy the insurance charge, not likely just suck it up customer.

Re: Insurance charges

And if they did put it in their shipping policy, you would have read it along with everything else right?
