Awesome - did you fly the T-33 off grass or pavement?

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

I flew it off a paved runway but with 65mm dia wheels and trailing link gear will be just fine off grass.

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

Thanks for the detailed flight report. If you have a watt meter can you post some values and amp draw readings. Curious as to what this new Freewing fan is producing.

Thanks
Marty

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

Very nice. Built in two hours and a lucky maiden flight in February!

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

Hi Brian

Hope all is well. I am in the process of putting the same Hobby Eagle A3-L controller in my T33 and noticed that you have yours installed offset to the centre line of the fuselage. I was wondering if you had any lateral issues (twitching) with the stabilization on. I was under the impression the controller had to be in line with the fuselage.

Thanks
Marty

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

Hey Marty,

All is well. We had our first stab about 5 weeks ago so we have some protection. Having said that I'm still not going to field until the stay at home order has been lifted.. Others are still flying at their own parole.

I've had no issues with the Gyro mounted off centerline. I have had many of them either not on the Centre line or not over the C of G, with no discernable issues.

There's not much room to find space for them on some models. I also think that what difference it does make is not noticeable from the ground.

Cheers Brian

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

Ok thanks Brian. I was able to place it all the way aft in the battery compartment where the opening narrows. It is the only place that has a flat surface other than where the battery sits. I had my first shot as well and am waiting for the Province to remove the restrictions before starting my flying season. Hopefully that happens this month as I have lots of maiden flights to do.

Take care.

Marty

Re: Freewing T-33 Build

One of our club members was interested in getting into EDFs so I recommended the T33 due to it being such a stable flier and the fact that the full size jet was a trainer for the Air Force. As there were none in stock on line I offered up mine to him to get him flying. He has been enjoying it for the past month. When the T33 was back in stock at RC Castle I ordered another one to replace the one I sold. Can't have two of the same coloured models at the field so I got the German version. It just arrived so hopefully will have a chance to fly it before the season is over. My previous T33 had the upgraded Freewing 1857kv IR fan which had lots of power so I am interested to see how it compares to the stock 1920kv IR (reduced fan blades) fan. Maybe we can get some formation flying in. Will update.
