What are the differences between inrunner and outrunner rc motors and which one is the best choice? Which type would I use on an edf or a plane?

Re: inrunner vs outrunner

Have to be more specific with motor models . Room for battery size , motor Kv and what the motor was designed for is what you have to research. Google Edf brushless motors and see what guys are using with success.

Re: inrunner vs outrunner

Quick answer is Inrunners used primarly on EDF fans, enclosed motor mounts and gear box setups (not always). Outrunners (more common) usually bigger sizes and easier to put large permanent magnets in rotating can. Inrunners have stationary magnets which are much smaller as the shaft rotates and case stationary. Inrunners typically high rpm and Outrunners generally slower but more torque at lower rpm depending on rest of specs. As Stegl said lots of good information out there on how to size, config and reccomend batts for your setups
