I can't confirm this until I get a bit more sanding done but I'm really thinking that just like a cedar strip canoe my fuselage could look interesting just clear coated. That would save some weight too.
I like!

Bill thanks for the vote of confidence but a lot hinges on a covering job worthy of the build. I'm not too sure I can pull that off & may have to revise my plan on covering material.

Merv the fuselage has turned out near perfectly without ANY putty work so far & it will just get clear coated with automotive paint I have on hand. I'm not sure I'll do the pylon in clear thanks to some minor pen markings I could have removed before the glassing stage. I'm debating leaving them there of sanding down to them to clean them up & then re glass. They aren't big but I simply never thought about just clear coating it.

Got any period appropriate decals? Or maybe sign it just about... there!

Here is what I did to cover the wings on my last OT'er and they are not nearly as pretty as yours! Clear photo finishing Mylar with green and red transparent tips to show off the woodwork. Some transparent lettering to go on yet.

No re decals. I have an idea which I may be able to pull off that covers the area in question & would look tidy while brightening things up. I need to see if I have enough of the particular covering to do the area of the pylon plus the nice curved area of the wing tips that are sheets with a smaller piece added to each tip of the stab.
