So, who is excited and waiting for this to arrive? I definitely am!

Having fallen in love with the 70mm variant, I'm very excited to get my hands on the 90mm. More power, bigger size, better landing gear all make it one that I want to have.

Who else is anxiously awaiting this one?

It looks like a ton of fun. Only a couple of reviews online, I wonder when they will start shipping.

According to a Horizon rep, they've already been put on the boat but it's stuck in the port of origin. Arrival date is estimated to be mid-August.

More interested than excited. I’ve been tempted to give EDFs a try, but a few hurdles have prevented me: flight duration and compatibility with my existing batteries. This bird seems to clear both; supposedly it’ll hold a pair of 6S5000’s that I can connect in parallel. And the BNF version has a newer receiver, supporting forward programming and user friendly AS3X.

Biggest stumbling block is the sticker price. That’s a lot of $$ for a lump of foam. It’s hard to remember that it’s not the airframe that’s the expense, it’s the components.

Re: E-flite's 90mm Viper

A pair of 6S 5000’s???
Why?
Most 90mm jets fly on one.
If you like a large sport jet, it is hard to beat the Freewing Avanti. Even though it is only 80mm, it is large and handles a single large 6S pack giving excellent flight times and performance.

Am I excited? No. E-flite really doesn’t provide the value in EDF jets that others have for years.

Re: E-flite's 90mm Viper

The Avanti flies 3 minutes on a 6s-5000 pack, flies great but I wouldn't rate that as excellent.

Why? Flight duration. To me the biggest show stopper for EDFs is the typically 2-3 minute flight time.

Re: E-flite's 90mm Viper

Dont know about that...I get 4:30 - 5 minutes on my Avanti 80mm and Freewing T33 using a 5000 mah 6S. Granted, I dont have the throttle pegged to the stop the entire flight and use some good energy management and left stick "repositioning " lol.....

I think the Eflight Viper 90 will be an overall impressive model. It has all the right lines, excellent flight characteristics and has the reverse thrust feature which will save a lot of those pilots that struggle to land their bird on short fields. When you factor in the all metal retracts, articulating gear, metal geared servos, operational doors, receiver, speed control , motor and fan, lights its reasonable. Try sourcing all those components and then build one out of wood and covering....it no longer makes sense....unfortunately.

Anyway...I have one ordered and will let you know my thoughts later in August.

If that is all you get, you need to excersize more throttle restraint and energy management.
I typically get between 4 and 6 minutes on my jets. It takes a completely different flying style to fly EDF than any other type of plane. Once mastered, not saying I have, it makes all the difference.

Um, OK.
Not sure there is any better flying jet out there ready to fly.
I have easily flown 5 minute aerobatic flights with over 3.7 volts per cell left over with Avanti’s.
