Do you have a MAAC field vailable to fly at? - Yes/No

It has been suggested that I start a survey or poll here to give us an idea as to how many people on this site fly at a sanctioned MAAC flying field. My feeling is that there are a lot of modelers out there that do not have a MAAC field to fly at.

Let your situation be made known with or without a reason - your choice.

There are two groups that I think automatically come under the NO heading. That would be slope soarers and float flyers as they most often are found on public lands. Correct me if I am wrong please.

I would have to answer yes and no. I fly at a club and at my own field.

Same here, big planes go to the field, float plane and some of my electrics get flown around home.

There will be a lot of folks in that situation. The purpose of this poll is to flush out those that just do not have the option for whatever reason, distance, membership caps, no others that fly in the area, type of flying done etc.

State your case or not, up to you but at least place a vote for your situation please.

Yes I see the problem, some fly more than one type of aircraft some of which cannot be flown at a club field. I am not sure if I can add a third option now... suggestions?

Field is 20 Minutes. There are float sites available for additional club sign up but farther away. Third club would give you actual good glider fields, even farther. Even farther to find any decent slopes. Anything around is private and either wooded or cultivated or hayed so to even pursue an "Off Site" would likely need to cost at least the lost revenue.

Electric flying is pretty much seeing how close to a dead short you can run without setting it on fire.

Yes, about a 20 minute drive from home, 10 minutes from work.

I suppose if I also wanted to be a member of the club in Moose Jaw, I could make it to that location in about 50 minutes.

If your home field will make the minimum requirements you should get it added onto your clubs registration as a second field. This way you are legal and insured as the land owner. It is a very easy process as this is how float fly's , indoor flying and slope events are registered under MAAC , they are listed as other flying fields. Now some may only be covered for events and some all year long, which you would want.

Re: Do you have a MAAC field vailable to fly at? - Yes/No

Access to most waterways are public land to my understanding as is the water itself so how do you get permission from the land owner to sanction a float fly field?

I am not really the one to ask on this as I do not float fly (yet) but I assume it is from the beach land owner that you would be dealing with. It may be a park or privately owned, either way someone with the rights to the property has to sign the landowners agreement with MAAC for it to be sanctioned for an event or for it to become a MAAC sanctioned flying site.
