I just became the proud owner of a new never run Blue Bird .25. I had no idea this make of engine existed. Made in Taiwan.

Anyone know the history? Who sold them? What time frame? How did they run?

Thanks.

Re: Blue Bird engines

I found some info the places them in the late 80s to early 90s. Here is a link to more info.

Re: Blue Bird engines

Thanks Dennis! Not a lot of info there but it does prove there were other sizes. This one obviously has never run but no box, not paperwork, no prop nut and washer and no muffler screws. It was bought back about 30 years ago and he never even mounted it. The original buyer gave it to a fellow modeler just recently and he passed it on to me today.

Re: Blue Bird engines

These are spirited runners, I had two, One with a chromed brass liner and another different generation with a chromed aluminum liner. Good runners. Long lasting, the carbs were hit and miss on quality.

Re: Blue Bird engines

I think they are the same manufacturer as the Brat series. OK for the time, like the Tower quality Chinese stuff. It was around the dawn of CNC machining so the cost was reasonable. I got my Brat .21 pull start for $50 new. Best deal ever at the time at the Toronto hobby show maybe late 1980s. Got a .28 later at a swap meet, but the liner was scored from a C clip that had broken.
