DLE55 Carburetor

Hi Guys.
I need some technical advise.
I'm replacing an original DLE carburetor with a Walbro that I've purchased from AMain Hobbies
The Walbro carb. does not have the fuel nipple that connects to the fuel nipple on the reed block.
My Question: What do I do with the fuel nipple on the reed block?
Do I have to replace the reed block also?

I look forward to some good advise.

Thx

Frank

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

Hi there you need the line from the reed block to the carburetor that line is used for the carb pump i think . Normally there is a hole in the Reed block that connects to carb .
Does your new carb have a small hole on the side where you bold the carb to the reed block.?
Just buy a carb gasket kit when that’s your problem I just did my dle

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

Hi Helmut

If you open up the picture that I attached to my posting, you will see that the new Walbro carb does not have the nipple or fitting that the original DLE had.
And so my question is simply what do I do now with the nipple or fitting that's on the reed block as I don't have anything to connect it to.

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

You can change out the top cover with the nipple and try it . The carb needs a connection to the engine most do that thru the flange between carb and reed block with a small hole . Or when that’s not possible they have a hose between carb and reed block.

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

Hi Helmut
The new DLE55 engines use the same walbro carburetor that I took a picture of and attached to this posting.
As you can see there is no nipple and therefore no fuel line to connect it to the engine.
What I'm thinking is that I may need to also replace the reed block. A reed block that does not have a nipple
I would appreciate any other thoughts on this

Thx

Frank

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

My understanding is the DLE55 came setup both ways. So if you have a carb with an external pulse line make sure you order one with it and the same if it is without . Here are listing for both DLE 55 version on Valley-View RC.
https://www.valleyviewrc.com/search/?q=carbreators

You could try swapping covers if they are identical or drill and tap the Walbro cover for a fitting?

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

I don't see a DLE55 carb from Valleyview with a pulse fitting unless I'm missing something in their website.
I wonder who even carries them anymore

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

In an earlier phone call with Helmut earlier today, he thought that I should look closer to see if the new Walbro carb might have a drilled hole that the original DLE carb may not have that provides the same function as the pulsating nipple that I was referring to.
Guess what?
He was right
Look at the attached PDF. The new Walbro carb has a hole while the old DLE carb has been plugged. There's also no good way to add a nipple.
This Walbro carb is a different design and meant for the DLE55 RA.
Interesting dilemma.
So what do I do?
Perhaps rather than trying to source an older carb that may not be readily available any more, perhaps I try to find a carb repair kit instead?
Any suggestions would be appreciated it

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

Or perhaps I just order a DLE55 RA reed block
This might also solve my problem
What do you guys think?

Re: DLE55 Carburetor

But if I change the reed block do I also need to change the reed valve assembly
