I understand completely. When I bought my first TT Raptor 50, shortly after I found out they where discontinued. I ended up buying a few, "6 ish" more to ensure I had parts to keep them flying.

I really like this thread and your enthusiasm for the retro heli's.

I have a Kalt Enforcer that I had bought used and mostly rebuilt afterwards. I think the motors front bearing is shot and fuel/oil got on the clutch causing it to start slipping. I never got past tuning the engine and hovering it around. Other project got in the way after that and never got around to repairing it. I was thinking of just selling it but now planing on getting in the air.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Cheers
Phil

LOL Phil, ive always had the enthusiasm... when I get something in my head I tend to go overboard.

WHen I started flying helis, I was in my first year of college in Kitchener. I remember going to the heli symposium put on by Flite Craft and seeing all these guys flying amazingly. Scott Gray was about 13 and already doing a lot of aerobatic flying (IIRC he was only flying for a few months). I had bought my Concept, but no it yet assembled it - that was waiting for me when I finished my school year and went back home.

Everyone there was flying Kalt Enforcers and I had wished I had bought one VS ordering my Concept 30 from Tower Hobbies. But it all worked out.

That was 1992. Amazing how time flies but the memories are as vivid as ever.

Re: Kyosho Concepts...

Got the Concept 30 SE all finished up, balanced and ready to run. Will need to get the engine tuned up and the throttle curve rough set on a test stand before I try and fly it in the spring. New set of Align 520mm blades as well.

On to decide which machine to clean up/build next. Might be the new 32 VR, or I may clean up and get the 30 SR I bought here recently ready to run. Leave the NIB ones for the time being.

For sure! You know the machine was so nice once I took it apart and cleaned it. I only ended up replacing one bearing out of all of them, and some of the screws that were corroded a bit.

I added some new mixer arms and thrust bearings in the main grips to accommodate the heavier weighted blades. And the newer style one piece blade grips. Otherwise everything was as I got it, just cleaned up.

Ill for sure get this flying - just a fun machine for forward flight, stall turns and the odd loop or roll.

Will get some video hopefully in 3 months or so! Thanks again for dealing with me.

Re: Kyosho Concepts...

Sounds good! As for dealing with you, it was totally refreshing compared to what usually happens on here! Hope to deal with again someday.

Re: Kyosho Concepts...

Iíve started resurrecting my second concept 30 to fly. Stripping down a used SX/SR hybrid I bought here, and a used SRT I got off eBay. Using the better parts of each to put one nice SR together.

This one will have an OS .37 SX I picked up with an old nib Hobbico muffler.

The one machine was pretty beat when I started stripping it down. Lots of damaged parts you donít see until you take everything apart. Good thing I went on a bit of a buying spree on eBay and have a box full of new and used parts as well. Spares enough for the future.

Re: Kyosho Concepts...

Have the machine all back together with many like new parts. Just need to setup the gyro and throws, and tie up the wiring. This will use a new SR canopy I bought off of eBay but shipping from the US is stalled out currently it seems, as several parcels I am waiting for arenít moving.

Also, Iím going to use the Align 520mm blades on this one, and use the SAB 500 mm blades that are on the way, on the Concept SE.

Once this is done I will assemble the brand new Concept 32VR I bought around Christmas. With some new Savox servos and a Quark gyro. It comes with a new OS 32SX. Iím going to use the stock Kyosho shrink wrapped wood blades that come with the kit.

I just ordered my servos from Great Hobbies on the weekend, and they arrived this morning via FedEx.

Here is the SR, almost ready to go!
