Good day to all...
Just a quick question about binding a new heli to a transmitter (DX.
Before binding,do I setup everything for the heli on the transmitter or go ahead and bind it and can do the settings later and it will be saved automatically ?
Thanks.

Re: Binding TX to heli(fbl unit) process.

Go ahead and bind it first. The only thing u need to worry about is the throttle reverse.

Then set up the radio. The only mandatory is to immediately rebind if throttle reverse has been effected in the radio after initial bind/setup.

A good rule of thumb to always follow is: After the heli has been set up and flies/trimmed right, REBIND to lock in the setup (neutrals) with the RX.

Re: Binding TX to heli(fbl unit) process.

Which fbl controller are you using? When setting up a heli I usually leave the motor disconnected and connect the ESC/BEC, then set the servo frequencies and centre pulse length, then connect the servos. Only when the entire setup is done, including ESC calibration, do I connect the motor wires. Some fbl controllers have a screen where you can test the radio, if it has that, it is a very important screen to get everything adjusted correctly on...

Re: Binding TX to heli(fbl unit) process.

I'm using Spirit Fbl and it has onscreen instructions and it's fairly simple.
It's just when it comes to the radio setup,my head spins quite a bit....like gains, curves, assigning channels(stick) for headspeeds and the usual. Some of the instructions are vague and unless you've done it before,it takes a bit to understand and do it right.

Re: Binding TX to heli(fbl unit) process.

Whatever you do DON'T reverse the throttle in the TX under servo options. Your heli will read 0 throttle as full throttle and do a full on spool up, Ask me how I know, not a fun experience with a 500 size heli. Will never make that brain cramp again.
I would assume the other poster meant to have the throttle hold switch setup so you don't accidently spool up the heli if you bump the throttle on the TX. I have this setup on all my helis and planes as a safety measure.

Main blades off .. set your model to heli or plane depends on what your model calls for .. set your throttle hold and low throttle then bind. Adjust setup after bind tail curve exc.

Re: Binding TX to heli(fbl unit) process.

I always do a rebind after everything is set up to be sure to lock in all the neutrals (and throttle off) after setting up a new bird. Just to be safe....
