Re: Outrageous Shipping

I think so as well Dave. When it arrives I will take the boxes to the post office and see what it costs to mail back.

Re: Outrageous Shipping

you want bad shipping.. I found a du-bro prop drive in Dallas TX.. 75.00 asked if he would ship and how much.. this box would be 4" x 4" x 8" tops.. and about 2lbs..

he came back with 150.00 usd shipped.. so I asked what the shipping was..

He said 72.50 usd.. sorry man... I will pass..

Re: Outrageous Shipping

All the numbers thrown around in this thread really don’t mean much without specifics . Like exact size of box , is it cubed weight or actual scale weight , who was the carrier and what priority of shipping ie like the thumbnail in posting #1 .
When commercial shipments are made across the border ; who pays for the extra required paperwork and when tax’s are collected who distributes the collection to the specific government agencies and so on ? Certainly not the jolly green giant !..... lol.

Even over size or overweight “free” shipping in Canada can be charged extra when the weight or size are over the established allowable “free” shipments .

If one feels that the mailing costs are excessive ; ask the person mailing ; the specifics and ask if there are lower priority options . Works for me and if I feel it is more than what it should be then I walk away.

Re: Outrageous Shipping

Hi guys.
I just wanted to give some feedback to the "cross Border" shipping service I read about somewhere here on the forums.

I had to order a large item for my RV and shipping to Canada was 50 bucks.
I used the "cross Border Pickup" service and it was shipped to the US address they gave me that was near the GTA. US shipping was 8 bucks.

when my order arrived at the US address, I got an email confirming its arrival at the USA address.
Then you log onto the site and "clear" the item by filling in details; product description, purpose, value.

At that point it sits in the que until you release it. This is because maybe you want to order several items from different sources. Each item when it arrives at the USA warehouse appears as a line item that you click on to enter the details to "clear" it. When you clear the line item, it shows as "clear and waiting release" (something like that)

When you are ready, you click the box for each line item you want to ship to canada and then when you go to the next step, you are asked to pay duty&/or taxes) (bsed on the item and declared value)
Then its sent to your prefered pick-up location in canada.

My cost other than the inital shipping fee from the US company was $8 in taxes and 10 to ship it to the canada pick-up location (I chose to have it sent to the Richmond Hill location which is not far from my work office)
$18 cad is a great deal for this large-box item I needed.

now we are ordering from Amazon US stuff that we cant get here in Canada. Free shipping from Amazon USA, and 10 bucks for a shipment to Canada(plus taxes) is pretty good for us
