Dx6e VS Dx6

So after my last post thinking I had a servo issue, I have come to realize that my radio is at fault, a Dx6i DSMX version. The rudder pot appears to be the culprit, and appears to be a known issue. Anyways, I have just been looking online and have pretty much narrowed it down to the two listed above.

A short background. I will be using it to start flying nitro rc planes. I plan on having 2 or three total, and nothing fancy. A trainer and a couple sport planes, easy and fun. As well, I will be using it for a couple of small electric planes in the 24 to 36 inch wingspan.

So of the two mentioned above, is there one particular transmitter that would be better than the other for my applications? After looking at the specs online, the Dx6e is winning me over. I am willing to spend the extra should I need it, but at this stage of the game, I do not personally seethe benefits. The only other thing I am debating is get the receiver with it or not.....

All opinions or comments are welcome. Thank you.

Re: Dx6e VS Dx6

Hi there, not sure if this helps, but I have DX6 gen3 SPMR6750 running the latest firmware with diversity antenna built in. I have not been using it, if you are interested it comes with manual, in original packaging with manuals, cd, and rechargeable upgraded battery including the charger... $220

I would recommend the DX6. The voice alert feature alone is worth the few extra dollars it costs. Especially if you plan to fly electrics. It is so nice to have a voice announcing how much flight time you have left and not have to count silly beeps. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Dx6e VS Dx6

New, I collect joystick assemblies from defunct transmitters for parts and may have a replacement pot that can be soldered in. Most radios use the same resistance, just different structural setups.

Can you post a closeup pic or two of the inside of the Tx?

I noticed a serious difference in quality of some of the newer gear. Older JR and Futaba used almost bulletproof control pots that would be serviceable even decades later. Had a Tx that came with a heli that had the rudder pot die in 20 MINUTES! Opened it up to find a thin carbon layer worn through in just that short time.

Re: Dx6e VS Dx6

The other night, I took it upon myself to disassemble the radio after watching a video online. I did take the pot apart and clean with alcohol. I then reassembled the transmitter and tested it out. It does now work as it did before. However, I do not know how long it will continue to work as it should. Please bear with me and I will get a picture in a couple of minutes, thank you.
