Many oldtimer designs had small fins, that would allow the model to remain in a thermal should it hook one. Free flight designs Merv.

The bottom has all red rear of the main spar and black ahead of it.

I like the covering although it feels a bit rubbery ( due to the pre-painted surface)

I won’t have enough black for the fuselage, but I have natural /white and black lustrekote paint which will work.

Looking more like a plane now..
Andrew I see a paper that says GlossTex beside the wing ,is that the name of the covering that you are using , I have some partial rolls of it but had no Idea what it was . Used it as trim on my Waco ,It does feel very rubbery until you wash it down with alcohol.. Have a 6' roll of black, you are welcome to it if you can use it . cheers Roger ..

Bill that looks like an expensive table under the car cover. I know because I have a few I use that way in my big shed.

I am well aware of that Bill but the fact of the matter is that we are no longer using them as designed and in their new RC role sometimes the original design needs tweaking. If she wags her tail like a duck under power you will now know why. It may not due to that sharp crease on the top of the fuse helping with directional control.

It will be interesting.

Have a couple of models with dutch roll Merv but you simply cut back on the power and they will settle down. I just find a super reliable idle and then look for the thermals.

Just an 03 roadster Larry but I do have a fair amount of coin into it. All mods as there are only 70K kms on the car originally. It's a little go cart that's for sure.

Re: First SAM/Old Timer build in years..

Damn fine looking ride. That also looked to be a quality car cover on it. The corvette I use as a table (it's well padded) is an 86 with high mileage but I have 2 more cars that serve as tables or shelves etc. I have a friend with an extremely low mileage Grand Sport he bought many years ago because it was so perfect. He's an NCRS junkie & spends way too much money restoring 65-67's only to sell them & start again.

Re: First SAM/Old Timer build in years..

Thanks Larry, I'm at 430hp at the rears. About 500 at the crank. Still need to do the supercharger and some LG coilovers so I can get the stance and wheel gap a little better.

Re: First SAM/Old Timer build in years..

managed some more covering... next up will be getting the servos/linkages hooked up and then cut and glue the clear plastic windows. Coming along... looks old-timer'y I think.
