I was very dubious about your color choices Andrew, especially the black but not anymore! The colors and the way you arranged them really add to the authentic look of this old timer! The black really makes that Saito pop to the eye too!

Great job and we need flight pictures and videos!

Lol thanks. I was determined to use what I had. It does look like a classic.

I looked at photos of older planes to figure out the scheme.

The underside is mostly black so itíll be easy to see in the sky. Although I tend not to get too high up.

If I can find a set of vintage wheels Iíll swap them out as well.

Trexlers would really set it off Andrew.

OK Bill you've done it again. I guess I'm not old enough for this SAM era lingo. What are Trexlers?

Trexlerís are lightweight inflatable rubber tires on wooden hubs.

Re: First SAM/Old Timer build in years..

Thanks AJ. Didn't know that but now I've been enlightened. So much to learn in this SAM world. I do really like Old Timers so it's good to understand the lingo too.

Re: First SAM/Old Timer build in years..

You can still buy them directly from Trexler Andrew. I know they are too big but they even have 6 inch.

Re: First SAM/Old Timer build in years..

So, I was working on the Junior 60 this afternoon.. just mouting the servos, making up push-rods and figuring what to use, and where to place the fuel tank. Its going fine, might get finished up tomorrow as I'm off with the kids.

The funny thing is, while I was searching my stash for a 4 oz tank, I found two sets of 3 3/4" Williams Brothers "old timey" wheels. They are pneumatic rubber on plastic hubs with a cap. They look pretty decent and I'm going to swap them out.
