The wing is covered and ready for servos.
I could add some colour highlights. I have green, white, 3 shades of yellow, solid red, and Corsair flat navy if anyone has an idea.

The transparent covering works exactly the same. Only difference is that the little bits of balsa you sometimes hear rattling inside the wing are also visible. I messed up on one hinge so had to re-cut it after covering and now there are bits in that bay.

First maiden video!

Hi guys:

The world has gone crazy.

Gas is 75 cents here now, I remember paying $1.20 maybe 15 years ago. Folks are getting really sick, some are dying. It feels irresponsible to get out and have some fun. At the time this video was shot, COVID-19 seemed pretty far away although we knew it was coming.
It's a lot closer now(2 days on), there are no confirmations locally but an hour North there are 20 at the minute and the number increases with most news reports.
My sister and my BIL are in quarantine next door and considering how they got home I can not imagine them getting off scot free.

That said, I'm posting this really fun video of a bunch of Canadians gathering on an open field and mostly keeping their distance.
We will fly through this if we are feeling good although nobody wants to put anyone at risk.

We have pledged to support those returning from the South in any way we can.

Please stay safe all y'all. But have fun if you can.

Mike

Mike you're plane looks really nice, cant wait to see the maiden. I always wanted to finish a plane like yours with the transparent covering.

An update with the kits we got. I think only one guy might have got started on his kit. He said he was going to start the same week this isolation thing tookoff. Myself I have been busy with work, kids and projects on the house this winter. Also I have been trying to get another build done before I start this one that has been almost complete since last winter.
I will keep you guys posted if I see any progress.

Re: Club build, 8 guys building the same plane from short kits

While I was waiting for my covering to arrive I decided to build Rob's short kit of the Tweety Bird. Since all the parts were cut for me I figured I'd be done in 2 weeks max! 10 weeks later I am ready for finishing. I never realized before just how much work went into a model. Or maybe when I was younger I did not notice. I have to say it was a super nice kit and everything fit well.
My only other comment is Boy this thing looks so 1970's

Re: Club build, 8 guys building the same plane from short kits

Thanks Phil, I like the transparent too but it shows things that would otherwise be covered.

Dave your plane looks great! Some guys build fast - other guys build normal. Everything seems to take way longer than I would have thought for me.

I would sure like to start on my Miss Bikini but trying to finish my going on 6 year build. Last few days I got the tail feathers covered and a few other things done. It's GP Slowpoke Sport 40. As you can see in the pics I got a different shop during the build. Thought of doing a build thread but I dont have much free time.
