I don't work any more on disability so I pretty much stay home or am out at the field. Just started on a Jerry Bates 1/4 scale Norseman. This thing is going to be huge.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

I have been planning on working on some planes all winter but kept getting side tracked (family stuff) - I was about to get back at it to bring my T34 Mentor to life; this has been delayed, by the arrival of three grandchildren looking for an escape from the GTA.

Before the delay arrived - I was able to check my DLE 20 and discovered that the Ignition was firing at 52 degrees before TDC!

The spec for this engine is ignition at 28 degrees BTDC!

Obviously I have found a problem and I have a task ahead of me. (whenever I can find the time). Details to follow.

FYI - the engine worked just fine out of the box and for the next three years. One day I had a bad case of 'Dumb Thumbs' and cracked up the plane. It would seem that the crash changed my Ignition setting.

With regards to the Virus Concerns - I'm retired.

And I don't even want to think about what the stock market has done to my savings.

Not yet in full quarantine. I am working as an AME and not sure yet if I will be out of a job or not, or simply take time off for isolation.
I very lucky. I sold my Hawker Seafury and Corsair. Got my hands on a new in box p47 .60 ARF from Top Flite. They do not build it no more. If I get time I will add monocote to make a camouflaged scheme. I have some cream color and I think It will work nice with the flat olive.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

I got layed off the other day....so now I'm finishing off the kinda thrashed Ultrasport that I bought from the Edmonton RC auction....I've been procrastinating on this for a while, so it's cool to see it taking shape now....she'll be ready to rock if this snow ever melts and we can get flying...Cheers all, and best wishes.

Not in full quarantine, just self imposed stay at home.

Loved my Nosen Aeronca. Mine liked a little rudder to help in the turns just like the full size.

Re: Anybody building while stuck at home?

Trying to finish up my Balsa USA 1/4 scale EAA Bipe I started last winter. I got the fuse built and then it got shelved until late this winter. It has a DLE20 rear exh for power. Hopefully it will be one of those relaxing end of night planes that is just fun to do touch and goes with that looks great in the sky. I also built a new XL Power 700 heli this winter, I did a build thread on RC Canada in the electric heli section. Good time to build with the Covid-19 thing and snow still coming down!
