Here’s a theory:

“The decline of our beloved hobby is directly proportional to the general decline of our society in general.”

Decline of society has accelerated with cell phones usage...which operate on 2.4Ghz...therefore all 2.4Ghz transmitters contribute to the decline of society.

..... more taxes to fix everything! (and of course, lock everyone up who disagrees with above )

Simple.

Re: RCA for Decline of Hobby

Maybe folks just want to cruise the internet and comment on forums rather than build and fly?
Internet is the problem IMO....wait a minute!
I am outta here!

Keep dissenting about the government and soon their henchmen will be at your door to drag you off to the gulag where you re-education will commence.

First on was an old "Fun Fly" plane. You know the kind, profile fuse, .32 glow engine, wide stubby wings, oversized control surfaces. Flew like a wet dishrag without all the mixes, rates, gyros and preprogrammed maneuvers. Gave it to some kids for pellet gun practice.

Second was a Sig Wonder. Flew but not very well or predictable until I separated the aileron servos to add differential rudder mix - to give more throw on the inboard aileron in a turn (ya there is no rudder but it worked) differential travel and expo. Tamed it right down.

Third and present struggle is a 30cc 3D plane that I am trying to fly as a pattern style model. You know - trying to make it do smooth realistic aerobatic flight... Some success here but not out of the woods yet.

These planes I have concluded are not inherently stable by design but must be forced into subjection by technology.

Merv,
I don't think the 3D plane is at fault. What 3D Plane is it?
They aren't designed for nice smooth aerobatics like an IMAC or Pattern plane. Their control surfaces are designed oversized to get the plane to change attitude faster not smoothly. You can "Tone Them Down a bit by decreasing the control surface throw by moving the horn t the outer most hole on the control surface and reducing your overall throw of the surface.

Make sure your plane is balanced correctly maybe even a little bit nose heavy but never tailheavy as that will make it more twitchy.

Re: RCA for Decline of Hobby

Yeah My slick came with 2 sets of elevators and stabilizers , one set with big elevators and small stabilizers for aggressive flying and a set with smaller elevators and big stabilizers for IMAC type flying .

Re: RCA for Decline of Hobby

Thanks Scaleguy, I am familiar with trimming planes so yes, doing all that. Overdid it with the expo to tame down the elevator on the first flight and lost all the trim travel but it's coming around. And yes you are correct, the 3D planes were never intended to fly like a real one.
