OK Guys;

I have just received an older engine that needed some love. It cleaned up quite nicely and has great compression but it looks like it has a mishap a while ago and the Carburetor took some damage.

The High End Needle got snapped off.

SO; I am looking for a High End Needle for a COMO 40 nitro engine.

If you have a High End Needle for a Super Tigre engine - it will work just fine. (same manufacturer different name)

The needle valves used in the 40 were the same that were used in all of the Super Tigre engines up to the 90 size. (which makes it a little bit easier to find a spare )

The part number for this needle valve is 22262774.

PLAN B

Do you have a spare Carburetor for the COMO / Super Tigre??

Please PM me with any details.

OK Guys;

It would seem that a replacement Carb may be the best way to go.

FYI the throat for the carb is 14mm wide.

Here are a couple of photos to assist.

Re: Needle Valve Needed

Hey Rob, another solution to this would be to solder the HS opening shut and add a remote needle valve if you can't find one. I think all ST NV are the same.
Good luck.

Re: Needle Valve Needed

Is the needle broke off where it enters the fitting or have you got it out?
I will check my stock on ST parts, ST/Como are the only 40 size motors I ever used.

Phil;
I had not thought of that!
I'll keep it in mind.

Thank you

Ken;

The needle was removed, but the brass fitting was damaged a bit and the compression tabs had to be filed down somewhat. The threads are still in good shape.

If you have parts and pieces that would be of service - I would be grateful.

Yup, 2.35mm diameter for the shaft of the needle that works with nib Supertigre G21/.29size engine I bought from another modeler..... the needle I have was actually made and sold by Harry Higley for Supertigre engines of that generation, .29 to .71 size....... HH stock number was NVL001...... longish, 15mm length of the tapered part.

Curiously, K&B used the same shaft diameter/thread size on their 6.5cc rear exhaust free flight engines, stock numbers 9120 and 9140, but with a shorter taper length.
